The Digital Marketing Specialist Who Diagnoses Your Business First

Most business owners who find this page have already tried digital marketing. They have paid for a website. Tried social media. Put money into Facebook ads or Google ads, sometimes both. Some hired someone to manage it. Others did parts of it themselves.

Very few walk away feeling like it worked the way they were promised it would.

The Channel Isn't the Problem.

That gap, between what was promised and what actually happened, is almost never the marketing channel's fault. Facebook ads work. Google ads work. SEO works. A well-built website works. The question is whether the person running it understands the strategy behind it deeply enough to make it work for your business, your audience, and your stage of growth.

Knowing how to set up a channel is not the same as understanding why it produces results. That distinction is where most digital marketing investment gets lost.

I built Red Black Marketing for the business owners sitting on the wrong side of that gap.

Background

Ten Years. Three Environments. Built the Hard Way.

school BA Digital Marketing · Birmingham City University

I have spent ten years working as a digital marketing specialist across three distinct professional environments: freelance client work, an in-house SEO role, and a digital marketing agency. Each environment taught me something different. Freelance work taught me accountability. In-house work taught me business context. Agency work taught me why campaigns break down when no single person owns the outcome.

I hold a BA in Digital Marketing from Birmingham City University. Early in my career, a business consultant with 25 years of industry experience took me on as an intern and taught me the commercial side of what I was learning to do technically. I have been trained alongside expert media buyers, leading website designers, and specialist SEOs. I have studied the field seriously, from Seth Godin's Purple Cow to Russell Brunson's Traffic Secrets, because understanding the philosophy behind why marketing works has always mattered to me as much as knowing how to execute it.

I started taking on clients in 2018 after spending two years learning, experimenting, and building my own digital properties to test what I was learning. My first clients came from knocking on doors in my local area at 8am and speaking to every business owner who would give me five minutes.

I am not here to manage a relationship. I am here to deliver results.

Why It Matters

The Distinction That Actually Matters

Digital marketing is accessible to almost anyone. The tools are learnable. The mechanics of setting up a campaign, writing a page title, or posting to social media can be picked up quickly. And because most business owners know less about the subject than the person they are hiring, it is not difficult to present as an expert without having the depth to back it up.

What takes years to develop is not the ability to use the tools. It is the judgment behind knowing which tools to use, when, in what combination, and why they will produce results for one business but not for another.

That is what ten years as a digital marketing specialist, a formal degree, and multiple professional environments have built. Not a collection of channel skills. A genuine understanding of how digital marketing works as a system, and how to make it produce results that show up in a business, not just in a report.

The Approach

Your Business First.
Strategy Second.

I do not arrive with a solution. I arrive with questions.

Before recommending a channel, a budget, or a strategy, I need to understand your business. I want to know what you have already tried, what your current digital presence looks like, and who your customers are and how they find businesses like yours. Then the most important question: what are you actually trying to achieve?

Marketing is not a monolith. What works for a professional services firm in London will not automatically work for an e-commerce brand, a trade business, or a company building its presence in a new market. Every strategy I build is specific to the business in front of me.

If you have an existing website that is underperforming, I will audit it. If you have run campaigns that did not deliver, I will look at why. Past investment is never wasted context. It is part of the diagnosis. The starting point is always what you already have, and an honest assessment of the right next move.

The Diagnosis Framework
The Diagnosis mind map — six questions leading to Your Strategy: what have you tried, your website, your customers, your market, paid ads history, and what success looks like in 12 months
  • What have you already tried in digital marketing?
  • What does your current website look like, and who built it?
  • Who are your customers and how do they find businesses like yours?
  • What market are you in and what are you actually trying to achieve?
  • Have you run paid ads before? What were the results?
  • What does success look like for you in 12 months?

What This Approach Has Produced

Over ten years of client work, I have worked with businesses in the UK, the United States, and South Africa, spanning professional services, healthcare, mining and resources, construction, and e-commerce.

Agency campaigns

700%

Increase in Monthly Conversions

Professional services · 12 months

trending_up 13 to 104 monthly conversions

1,738%

Increase in Organic Traffic

Construction sector · 9 months

trending_up 48 to 1,131 monthly clicks

57,850%

Increase in Keyword Rankings

B2B manufacturing · 8 months

trending_up Near-zero to hundreds of ranked terms

During my time in agency digital marketing, I contributed to campaigns for an e-commerce manufacturer that grew their monthly revenue from zero to six figures through organic search alone.

No paid advertising.

Technical SEO, content architecture, and consistent execution over time.

Under Red Black Marketing, I have worked with Bushiangala Gold Mining Group, an international mining operation, to build a complete brand identity, website, and SEO strategy from scratch. No existing traffic, no domain authority, no established positioning in the market. The results the campaigns above produced were built on the same foundation: getting the technical architecture, the content structure, and the keyword strategy right before expecting the numbers to move.

I have also worked with Wrap Center The Transformers, a vehicle wrapping business with no existing brand or digital footprint, to build their brand identity, website, and a local SEO strategy designed to generate bookings from their target customers.
